anybody else have this problem? on my hagen thermal compact, the THERMAL COMPACT in blue came off.

Nup, never happened to me... I wouldn't be too worried, it's probably just wear and tear.. if there's any paint bits in the water though, get them out ASAP or some fish might mistake them for food.

this has happened to me. the paint/laminate where it has clear dots in a black backround sortof has just started peeling off in flake-size pieces. it hasn't affected anything that I know of and the heater is still working ok. the gravel vac gets rid of that stuff usually.

my heater (exactly the same make) recently cracked all the way down it and then filled up with tank water and started boiling!

Mine is peeling too! It's a Whisper heater and the black stuff on it peels off. I just try to make sure the guppies don't eat it .
