Can I use a 100 w heater for a 5 gallon tank ? Asking because a friend said they will let me use their 5 gallon for the baby fry my fish just had.

Found out soap was used in it. How can I clean it properly ?

Perhaps you should reclean it using vinegar.. Then rinse several times thoroughly.

I have everything soaking in very hot water overnight. Will this help ?

White vinegar would be fine. Just wipe it down well. ..Then rinse thoroughly.

Don't soak plastics in hot water because they release chemicals into the water.

If something has been contaminated with soap, just wash and rinse a few times with clean water.

I think that a 100W heater would be too much for a 5 Gal tank. You probably would want to go with something like a 25W heater.

Hi..well...I had to.. I'd place it just in front of the outlet of the filter. A suspicious must better than no heater. But that's just me.
