I have a hevaily planted 30G with a pure flourite substrate, 4WPG, CO2 (Nutrafin), and a variety of Seachem products for plant food. I've had limnohila sessiflora since my sub-[ar light days and always loved how brigh a green it was compared to other plants in the tank. After I licked my algae problem my limno strated growing out of control, as did several other plants in my tank. Once the limno got near the top of the tank it looked to me as if it strated to turn brown. At that point I always pruned them short again. Recently I've been letting them grow righ to the top. I've also noticed that the discolouration on the top portion of the limno is actually much closer to a red than a brown.

Has anyone before seen or heard of limno going red under optimal conditions?

I've been too lazy to cut it the last couple of weeks. After it reachs the surface, it all extends out over a foot, almost completely blanketing the top of my 30G. This plant is completely out of control...

:) The red colour is the plants equivalent of sunscreen, it turns red to stop the lights burning the leaves and killing them :D

Argh... I was going to ask to buy someone's cuttings, but none of you guys are in the US. I wonder if there are any problems with shipping live plants from Canada. Anyone in the US have some cuttings they'd just throw away?
