Has anyone seen my fish?

I went to feed my little guys tonight, and did a head count while I was at it, like I always do. Well, instead of my 6 neon tetras, I have only found 5. I looked everywhere in my tank for him, and can't find him anywhere, dead or alive. My roomate had been trying to find it as well. Where could he be??

What if he jumped out?

I looked all around the tank as well in case he could have, but there is not too much room for him to jump. he would have to be really accurate because thwere is only about a 2cm area that he could go from.
He just seems to have vanished.

If he was really small maybe he got sucked into the filter. That happened to my neons.

Looked there too, He is not small enough to go through the slots of my filter.

Any other ideas guys?

Do you have any large scavengers or carnivorous fish in your tank, even angels? Chances are he/she was eaten alive, or eaten after she died by a scavenger like a large catfish. It's even possible that the other neons cannibalized if they saw it dead. A lot of fish do that.

The only fish I have in that tank are tetras. He was there this morning, so if he died today, they must have eaten him, because he is nowhere to be found!

I guess that could be the only solution. Is your tank heavily planted? Is there sand or gravel?

it is not heavily planted, and there is gravel. I looked in the plats as much as I could, as did my roomate. Hmmmm, I am going to look again.

Good luck. Even if he/she is dead at least you'll have some closure.

Thanks David. I still have not found my other fish, but when I went downstairs to look, one of my other ones got stuck in the filter slots, and sadly was too hurt, so I had to put it down. little fishy.

The most likely solution is that it died and the other fish ate it. Unless you have some sort of backing in the tank that it could get caught behind. I lost a bristlenose catfish in a similar fashion. I can only assume that the other fish ate it.
