How hardy are Zebra Danio's and the red tailed black shark, for the first fish to introduce into a tank.
Oh and how about shrimp in a new tank?
Thanks

Hi,

The tank is too small for a RTBS. Danios are very hardy and are usually recommended as a first fish theough they do like to zoom about and will be limited in that size tank.

Have you read all the topics on fishless cycling? If you fishless cycle you can add all the fish at once when the cycle is complete. I'd be looking at a group of tetras and a group of corys as better alternatives.

Emma :D

Yeah, I have had tropical fish for a long time before, but have had a long gap. I am currently running a fishless cycle, but I still like to take things slowly.
So are the RTB hardy?

I had started my tank with 2 silver dollar fish & an eel,... they all did fine and are all still alive and well (about a year and a half later.) they seem to be incredibly hardy, all of them, and the 3 have gone through lots of bad,.... experiences in the tank. (heater broke, temp. dropped 9 degrees, other fish I bought jumped out, ammonia spikes,... just to name a few :fish: ) plus, they all do really well together. no fights at all. gl with new tank
