I picked up a hammer nearly a week ago, which had two branchings. Yesterday both branches were open and happy and then i wake up this morning and one branch is completely missing... only the skeleton remains. What the heck happened?? Other branch seems perfectly fine.

Euphyllia are quite prone to losing heads when first introduced to the tank. They like very little flow and are quite sensitive to light shock.

No chance it'll grow back? or what? I'm quite new to Euphyllias. It's in a place in my tank the receives the least amount of flow for sure.

Im not 100% sure, i dont think they grow back over skeleton that used to be host to one of its polyps. I think i see a duncan in that pic right? ime they seem to grow a bit like that. They either get little tiny heads starting to apear around the edges of an established one like a duncan, or the heads split up when new mouths apear.

Yep, that's a duncan over there. Alright, that's a shame but I guess I should be thankful I still have the other half.
Thanks Ben :good:

im not 100% like...
just lost two heads of a torch for no reason once, the rest of the coral was growing fine in both ways i said above. Read its fairly common for them to lose them just after intro.
shame though...looks like a nice frag.

No, it wont grow back  strangley enough I woke up this morning to find the same thing on my pink hammer - going to get the hacksaw out later and take the two heads off - the other head is not looking great either!
