Any advice on how to remove the hair alge.

Cn you post a photo of the "hair algae?" And a photo of the entire tank so we can assess plant and fish loads which are both factors in algae problems. Also, data on the tank lighting--spectrum, type, duration daily.

Right off though I would not use the phosphate remover. All substances added to the water can affect fish negatively, regardless of being "safe" or not. Problems like algae are not solved with adding chemicals, but with finding the cause in the light/nutrient balance and correcting that. We'll get there.

OK, first thing, the light is on too long. Reduce it to 8 or 9 hours, and after a couple weeks if algae is still increasing [note, I said increasing--what is there will not disappear unless you remove it, but the goal is to stop it from increasing/continuing to grow] it can be reduced another hour, but 8-9 should do it. My tanks have 7 hours daily, and no algae problems for six years now.

For the spectrum, is there a number for either Kelvin or CRI (colour rendering index)? Can you adjust the colours? I ask because the blue could be much less, red is more important of red and blue for photosynthesis, green is good for plants.

That is a lovely tank, we will get this resolved, it won't be overnight.

Thanks Byron, sectrum adjustment did the trick hair alge gone. Cheers pal.
