Hi,

20l fluval chi.

Not overcrowded.

Ammonia and nitrates at 0 on last check.

Diagnosis should be easy from the picture?

Is this dropsy?

Spine appears curved. Fins have rotted (and have been so for a very long time) my lfs say it was a cherr barb nipping the tail. I thought BS iit's a disease but family sided with lfs....

Stomach also appears to have bloated/ruptured?

Please help.

Now dead.

:(

Stomach was split and spine therefore buckled...

Help?

What should I do to protect other fish?

You said ammonia and nitrates were 0ppm - did you mean nitrite, or do you have a nitrite reading? And when was the last reading?

How long has the tank been setup? How did you cycle the filter? You said it's not overcrowded, but then didn't say what is in the tank? What is your maintenance schedule? How much do you feed and how often?

It doesn't look like dropsy from the photos, the scales aren't obviously protruding. Cherry barbs aren't notorious nippers, but could turn that way when stressed.

When you say not overcrowded-it's 20L how crowded is it? I would be keeping maximum 2 guppies (endlers)-both males in a 20L and that's pushing it.  Like the lock man said above, cherry barbs aren't nippers, mines ignore my guppies. I hope you don't have cherry barbs in your tank.
I have found dead guppies like that after having swimbladder disease, I can't say that's what yours died from as we don't know the symptoms. The only curved spines I have had are from older females who have dropped fry and it took its toll. Really can't tell unless we know how long the tanks been set up, if it's been cycled, the current stats and how many fish are in the tank. Sorry.
