Hi,

Im fairly new to keeping Tropical Fish, and only started at Chrsitmas after my wife brought me a tank, ive been hooked ever since. I had a few problems to begin with but all calmed down and my fish have been doing well ever since. I decided to buy a breeding tank to have a go at rasing guppy fry. Everything started well and I managed to get my first guppy fry about 2 months ago and there doing well in their breeding net. At the moment I have two males in there and about 6 females. I did have about 5 other females and one male but for some reason they caught some sort of Fungus and died. I do regular water changes and gravel cleans and regulat water testing and all are ok. Ive just noticed another two of my females have some sort of fungus again. Im in the process of trying primafix and melafix for seven days to if that helps. It seems no matter how hard i clean the tank and change the water, this fungus keeps returning. I have even brought another filter for the tank and there is an air stone in there also. If anyone could advise me where im going wrong, that would be great as i really dont want to loose any more guppies.

thanks.

Mat

I think I may have found the problem, ive always been a bit wary of under gravel filters. I took my under gravel filter out and ive never seen so much fish waste, there was loads. Ive left a standard filter in there along with an airstone and after replacing a lot of the water, its looking pristine again, fingers crossed.
