Gulper Knife Catfish

i just saw one at my lfs for 10 bucks. i looks like a brown knife with a catfish head i remember reading that cfc or sirminion wanted one really bad. now i want to get one i was thinking about buying it, but i dont have any info on it. i was wondering if you guys could give me some info can be trained to eat frozen shrimp? what size tank would i need? what fish, if any are compatible with it? thanks

What you saw was mostlikely one of the Ompok species, Ompok bimaculatus is the most commonly imported species http/www.scotcat.com/factsheets/ompok_bimaculatus.htm which are bred in far eastern fish farms.

I know nothing about them, the only tid-bit of information I know is they can be found in brackish waters as well as freshwater.

argggggh, i was all excited too what was the cooler species called? how much do they usually go for and how big of a tank do they need?

that goldfish it eats is nearly the size of the it!! look like good fish, just would eat all of mine lol

They are actually capable of swallowing prey nearly twice their own length!! In the wild they have been documented swallowing full grown adult 10"+ angelfish sideways, they dont get the name of gulper catfish for nothing.
