*sigh* Yesterday I went to my lfs and I saw some really really great stuff happening! Last year, they wre outta snails so I donated a lot and this year every tank they had had some snails in there to keep algae away and stuff.... and you know what??? THEY CHARGED ME $5 FOR ONE HECK OF A SNAIL! Okay whats wrong with this picture: I donated snails to the lfs cuz they were out, my snails kept reproducing so he had snails and lots of them, then he charged me for them So I went hahahahaha you crack me up then i thought "really you do! do you actually expect me to pay pretty money for my own snails? :sly: " and you know what? PEOPLE ACTUALLY BUY THEM! Hahaha! I actualyl helped the lfs make bundles! by donating like 50 snails to them! ugh I'm disgusted

Hmmmmmm ....... well if your snails were reproducing what happened ??? did they remember you ??? why would you give them snails and expect them to bother with thm if they couldnt make $$ out of them ??? most llfs GIVE pond snails away .... although I have never asked

It may be "just business", but it doesn't sound like good customer service to me, which is "better business". I can't believe they're not willing to give you one of your own snails back, just in the name of customer goodwill :S

The snails were donated to the LFS. The LFS has no obligation to "redonate" any back to the donor. I'm sure they said "Thanks for the donation" but it seems that the LFS doesn't have the same thought that they should have some sort of "understanding" with you. And they have no reason to. If I give my friend a box of chocolates, I have no reasonable expectation that she "owes" me any of the chocolates.

You gave the LFS a gift, that doesn't mean they owe you a gift in return.

Hahaha you are so very helpful

but chocolates dont reproduce themselves like snails do you know? So if you gave someone some chocolates and they eat them, they need to buy some more to give them back to you. But snails reprouduce a lot and they dont need money to reproduce so I dont get why they arent giving some to me

EDIT~ and they werent gifts they asked for them from me since I go to their shop a lot and tell them about my fish and I told them about my many snails so I donated some to them cuz they needed some

Chocolates don't need to be fed and housed either, which Snails do. Electric bills, wages, food costs, all overhead comes into play. However, they really could have given you a snail. Not like they will run out.

That's business for you. Not the best practice, but what do you expect? If it was me, I would have given at least a discount of some sort on them but every business has it's own practices and they aren't in the business out of good will to just give away their stocks, even if you gave them some of it. Besides, wouldn't these be the offspring of the snails you donated as opposed to the snails themselves?
