I have a fully grown male Green Terror and was wondering how old do they get? because I've had mine for about 7years and he's not as active now as he used to be, He has always been in a 4foot tank he still feeds well and still comes to you when you look in the tank

Profile on AquaWorld suggests "Aequidens rivulatus can live up to 10 years."

HTH, Eddie

Cheers for Eddie. How long has anyone had one for and what sort of behaviour changes did you notice?

Sorry for not replying sooner....my bad as they say :*) :*)

ten years is the average life span although they can live longer in captivity as long as their diet and water conditions remain good.

I do not have extensive experiance with them.....however I did just bring in two young adult wild pairs.

I can tell you this much.............DO NOT place them in anything smaller than a 48x18 tank!!!

The pairs I have are 5"+ and I place each pair in their own 36x18 tank. Within 5 days both males had their females beat to he*l and cowering in an upper corner of the tank.

I pulled both females to try to save them. One is recuperating nicely...the other I am sorry to say did not make it!!

Given the fact these were not yet full adults I figured they would be fine in this size tank until sold.....boy was I wrong!!!

Just goes to show....even those of us with extensive time with cichlids can still be fooled.
