Hi all
I have a question i recently had a lot of brown algae and was using tap water but bought an RO unit and have completed about a 40-50% water change over a few days the brown algae has all gone hoorrrrayy but been replaced with green instead now boooooo is tis just because im changing from tap to RO is is there another underlying problem

I had this problem. I fixed it by lowering the photoperiod of the lights.

Lighting generally has little impact on Algea

What is you Phos reading

If you have been using Tap water then you are going to have a battle on your hands as it is loaded with phos

The switch from tap to RO clearly eliminated the source of the slime algae's nutrients, however it is very common to be followed up by a hair algae infestation. As Chac mentioned, phosphates are generally a great fuel for hair algae. The good news is that there are organisms which eat hair algae depending on the size of your tank... How big is it?

i have a 40 gal tank 2 cleaner shrimp a decorator crab 2 clowns at the mo
