Do gouramis eat plants? My male dwarf keeps picking at them and there appears to be damage now.

When I grew Elodea. My Gouramis used to much on it. As it is quite soft I suppose, they don't touch any other plant. I think the trick is to make sure your Fish have plenty of veggies in there diet. Then they should leave well alone, or so I read.

Yeah its Elodea he's been eating. Well I better buy some veggie food. Thanks.

He could be trying to build his nest. My guy would pick peices off my whisteria to put in his nest. I went out and got some floating plants (stuff grows like a weed) and he stopped messing with my other plants.

Hi Lynz781 :)

Gouramis love spirulina discs even more than my corys do. You might want to try some of them.

While gouramis are normally top feeders, they won't hesitate to eat off the bottom if there is something interesting there for them. :D

My gouramis have eaten some of my duck weed from the surface! But ive never before seen them picking at any plants except for some which were dying.

Yes, inchworm is right, gouramis are predomanately top feeders, but now i got rid of my 3 clowns, they always venture to the bottum. Goodluck

I will buy spirinula then. He's really done a good job of messing up a part of my Elodea, bits floating everywhere. Cheeky
