Hello everyone, I was wondering how well a single pair of dwarf Gourami's or some other type of smaller Gourami would do in a 10 gallon tank with maybe 4 Cory catfish. If anyone has any opinions, suggestions, etc. I would love to hear them. Thanks! :)

I have not had experience with dwarf gouramis, although im quite interested in them. Blue gouramis are absolute bullies, so dont buy them, but dwarf gouramis... Not quite sure. Have heard from 1 pearson that they would be fine to go with fighter fish, so if they can go with fighter fish i guess they can go with anything. Hope this helps

Okay, thank you for the advice, i'll definitely keep that in mind and it does help lol :)

A pair of honey gouramis would go nicely in a 10 gall tank. They are a bit smaller than dwarf gouramis, and the males aren't as nasty to the females. It's easier to tell the sexes apart with the wild coloured variety (golden tan male, beige female) than with the other colours.

I have a Blue and Gold gourami in the same tank and they get on great, best friends in fact.

There are always good and bad examples of mixing community fish but I agree that three spot gourami's in general haven't got the best rapor in the group. I would stay away from these anyway because they would require a larger tank.

Be careful with Dwarf gourami's as they aren't the most hardy fish around. I had some and they died for no reason

Okay, thanks for the advice, I'll probably research them a little more now that i've got some specific types. Thanks again :)

Aw, I'm sorry about your Dwarf Gourami's ): And thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated :) Also, how big do both Honey and Dwarf Gourami's grow to usually?

Honey gouramis grow to 2 inches

and dwarf gouramis get a bit bigger at 2 1/2 inches

The other types get a lot bigger. There is a thread in the beginners resource section about fish suitable for a 10 gall tank, and the only gouramis it recommends are honeys. Dwarfs are a bit too big, though males can be kept singly in a 10 gall.
