Got Given This

Nothing special bit i got given this and not quite sure what to do with it! I have gravel in my tank

What kind of plant is it?

It looks very much like Lilaeopsis brasiliensis (Micro Sword)

If i leave it in the pot and sink it into my gravel will it do ok? And grow i think it is a carpet plant

Why not place it as it is and just cover the pot with some rocks?

That is what i have done but any idea if it will spread?

I think so judging from that offshoot looking part on the right side that branches out

It needs to be out of the pot to spread, it will carpet under the right conditions. Without c02 it doesn't do as well ime.
