Hello :)
I just started to gradually plant my tank.. I only have 4 plants in there right now.. 2 Anubias nana and 2 Anubias Congensis.
I have just recently read that it's better to get a large plant mass going rather than a couple plants here and there.. Is this true?

I'm doing just a simple low-tech plant tank. No cO2, no fancy lighting -- just a 32 watt T8 fluorescent bulb.
I have API Leaf Zone liquid carbon to add everyday, and Flourish liquid supplement to add once or twice a week.

The only LFS's in my area (Petco, Petsmart) don't really carry a good or big selection in live plants.. they had the anubias that I purchased, but they came in tall Plastic containers with the bottoms of them filled with some sort of moist gel substance to keep the plants from dying or drying out.. pretty commercial packaging..
The ones I got looked pretty good for the most part, but there were some on the shelves with browning/dead leaves..

Where is a good online site that I could get live plants at a good price? I'm not trying to break the bank.

I need low-tech plants that are low maintenance and hardy, as I have south american cichlids in the tank.
Here's a list I came across that do well in low-tech tanks (got it from another thread) but do these plants also hold up to rough housing Cichlids?

Java fern
Mosses (various)
Bolbitis
Hydrocotyle (various)
Cryptocorynes (various)
Amazon swords (various)
Creeding Jenny
Indian water fern
Staurogyne repens
Hemianthus micranthemoides
Lomariopsis lineata

Advice would be greatly appreciated ! :good:

Where do you live? US or UK?

I am in the Philadelphia, PA area and I have used the following website for my plant orders, shipping is not cheap, but if you order enough plants/livestock then it is okay (still not cheap)

http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/index.web

They are located in Lancaster, PA, so if you want to see something cool and can get there, they have 110,000 sq ft warehouse chock full of aquarium supplies and pet supplies... I drive out there now and save on the shipping.

I also found a good lfs in my area, so if you want that too, just let me know.

Thanks for the response and the website, i'll check them out.
I live in the US, in St. Louis, Missouri area. I'm sure shipping would be pretty pricey then.
