Iā€™m planning to get a betta fish but Iā€™m unsure if the tank is too small. I will get a heater soon but right now Iā€™m cycling. If itā€™s too small Iā€™ll just get zebra dinos but I REALLY want a betta fish. :( any advice is welcome! P.s mini Christmas tree for scale

How many gallons is the tank? Even though I have a betta in a 3.4gal, I prefer my bettas in 5gal+ tanks.

Just so you know, if a tank is too small for a betta, it is far too small for most any other fish, including danios.

The minimum size for a betta is 5 American gallons or 20 litres, though some people think half that is OK.

I can't tell what size your tank is from the photo, but if it is too small for a betta, it is far too small for zebra danios. Despite their small size they are such active swimmers that they need a tank that is at least 3 feet/90 cm long.

But to help you choose fish, can you tell us the hardness of your tap water, please. That information should be somewhere on your water provider's website. We need the number and the units as they could use any one of half a dozen different units.

You need a heater as soon as possible as cycling goes faster in warmer water.
Are you adding ammonia to cycle the tank? If not, that isn't cycling, it's just running the tank.

Like many others have mentioned above, we would need to know the amount of gallons it holds... I would recommend nothing less that 2.5 gallons for a betta. 5+ is best..
Side Note: I would suggest not having plastic plants in there. They can damage the fins of a betta. Use silk plants or live plants.

That tank is perfect for a male Betta, the double sponge filter you are using is also perfect, that tank is about 10 gallon.

All you need is some live low light plants, Anubias, Crypts etc and a small portion of Water sprite as a floating plant.

Do you have a light? if no

Try this

Do you have a heater?
If no,
Please note there are cheaper heaters out there but I dont trust the cheap stuff.

The brown plant Iā€™m using is pretty soft, I test it out with my own tights but the green one I had to cut the edge which I think is fine. I am thinking of live plants but the floating kinds. Thank you for your concern! :)
