Anyone have any good sites to get cheap corals frags from in the UK? Both my LFS seem to have really poor selections recently so going to have to go online (which is probably gonna be cheaper anyway).

It's worth checking out ebay I would say Barney. I've not bought livestock online yet but have my eye on a couple of things at the moment. There's two or three sellers that are always selling corals etc.

Yeah have been looking at a couple on there myself. Seems to be some good ones on there.

im probably going to order from fishman frags since they seem to have good prices and stock.

try going on
www.rareocean.co.uk
www.mailordercorals.com
www.marine-corals.co.uk
www.tidalgardens.com

that just the sites i have orderd live stock from and the rare ocean one is the best i have order loads of coral from them and there stunning and marine-coral there just as good if you order from tidalgardens would watch on acclimatising them i have orderd 8 corals 2 were in box but travel far away dead but were replaced in 3 days .

Why are we not getting together and doing it for ourselves, as the song goes  I am not yet at the point of fragging but there must be some people who are and would be happy to sell, swop, barter...................... or even people wanting to swop/sell larger corals. Or anything Salty - people are buying RO water from shops when maybe people on here would be happy to sell it and for less!

Could we have an area in the for sale/wanted section - seems to be dominated by fresh water bits and bobs OR Barney how about starting a thread (oh maybe that isn't allowed on this area but in the sale area). Must admit it would be great to have a few more catergories in the For Sale (within the countries) - Maybe Marine and Fresh with sub cats for hardware etc.

Any Mods out there, what do you think?

its also worth asking at the lfs in your area.

I have got a few frags from my local maidenhead aquatics.

I got a toadstool for £7.50

a small piece of live rock with 3 types of coral on for £10

another piece of live rock with a small colony of zoo on plus an anemone that has tripled in size over the last month. that was also a tenner.

another piece of live rock with 3 seperate colonies of pulsing xenia for £12

Don't be afraid to ask "what is the best price you can do it for?"

some bargains there!

I believe BigC has some good cheapish frag suppliers (mail order). I am sure he won't mind sharing their details.

yeah it would be good. There is a frag exchange thread in one of these sections but the problem is that there havent been a great many people from the UK in the salty section here. This is changing a bit now and there are a lot more people getting into it. I'm not into the fragging stage just yet either (though I have a few bits of GSP I wouldnt mind swapping). Maybe there is a better way to do it then having it all in one thread which has people from all over the world and posts that are months old.

Would be a good idea for a website, if i ever get a few hours spare i might chuck something together. Would be handy to have a site where you can list what you have to swap and what you want to swap it for then people can search for people that are looking for the frags they have or for frags that they are looking for. Should be fairly simple to build just would take up time i dont really have at the moment.

I dont think a new sub-form for frag swapping would really be of any merit in the context of this forum. Really if you looks at it there are not that many reefers who at all times would be fragging corals on a frequent basis. The member base is much too small for this to be effective. There is a frag exchange pinned topic already in existance and maybe this could be used for such practices.
As for cheap frags I have used are-

http://www.rareocean.co.uk/rareocean/
Fleabay

Have a nice day

My advice to you would be to buy off reefkeepers.

1. They tend to have better condition stock.
2. They tend to have better colours.
3. They tend to be cheaper / bigger corals.

However, there are a few good shops.

Yeah I would prefer to buy from other reef keepers but there are no reef clubs or anything around this area which makes it hard to find them :(

Thanks for all the ideas and links from everyone though, have a few places to check out now :)

Hi Barney, where in Kent are you from as Zoaphoria is based near Margate.
