Hey,

I have got the following:
190ltr tank
4 peppered catfish
2 golden zebra loaches
6 black widow tetra
2 african dwarf frogs

i want to get some more community fish to add to this tank in a couple of weeks time. Any ideas of good, hardy, fun, not bigger than 8cm community fish?
I dont want any guppies or platys as they breed to much!!
thinking about getting some Bolivian Rams, any comments on these fish?? How many should i get?? etc
Look forward to your ideas,
thanks x x x x x

in a tank like that i would see platy or guppy as a perfect provider of live food. you may end up with one or two every few months that you could swap at your lfs at the very worst. the fry are also ideal for eating the small particles of food missed by everything else in the tank. (just comment worth mentioning)

i have very little knowledge of the frogs and assume you've done research on them (dont they eat sleeping fish?) and they do suit your community. the rams are great fish and ideal tank mates but a high PH can make them fragile and difficult to keep for long periods. i would suggest a ph below 7.3 ish. ideally 6.5 if you want them to breed. two males will fight for dominance in a tank so get 2 females or a female and a male (look up on the net they are easy to sex). you could also consider a few kribs (pelvichromis pulcher i belive) as they are a stunning looking fish but beware, when breeding nothing else in the tank is safe. keep only females if they are to go in a community tank.

these are just a few suggestions, hope it helps
Dan

do you really have Botia supercilliaris? or is this another LFS made up name for Gyrinocheilus aymonieri

as for you question
any of the following danios would be ok in your tank
Zebra/leopard, glowlight, pearl, rosesus, blue and hikari
details of all can be found on my website (see sig)
note all danios ned to be in groups of at least 5, especially zebras.

Hey, yeh i do have two of the golden zebra loaches,(Botia supercillaris)(why do you ask?) theyre ok seem a bit aggressive sometimes but only toward each other and they dont injure one another.
thanks for the advice on future fish, would they all be ok with dwarf frogs?
any other ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated,

Hey
just bought 4 rummy nose tetras to join the tank, they seem ok, not to stressed, theyre swimming around nicely and eating, wanted to get more but only had a tenner! think 4 will be ok together though.
anymore ideas on fish i mentioned at the start of this post would be cool,
cheers :D

If I were you I woult rethink the African Dwarf Frogs, when they get bigger they have a tendency to eat other fish.

Why not get a pair of keyhole cichlids they dont get to big and are nice and peaceful unless protecting young as all cichlids are i keep them in my community tank and they get along great with all my other fish also why not get a small group of bloodfin tetras 6-8 would look great

hey thanks for the advice,
as for the frogs i have the dwarf variety that dont grow very big, so wont be a threat to the fish. :D
as for cichlids i have been told that theyre agressive in a community tank are they?
which ones are the most friendly and wont attack the fish and frogs i already have?
thanks again, anymore ideas welcomed,
cheers x x x

i have 2 german blue rams in a community tank and they get on fine with my other fish but you have to have to water right for them.
