Within the last 2-3 days, my gold gourami started having trouble swimming. He was angled nearly vertical and would sink back down more quickly. He also moved his fins more rapidly.
I decided to clean out the tank. He seemed to start improving, but I noticed a spot on his left fin. Itā€™s a whiteish/cloudy lump, possibly with a black point, and he canā€™t use that fin very well. I have another opaline gourami who does pick on him sometime so Iā€™m unsure if it could be trauma vs. disease.
It is a bit transparent so pictures were a bit hard.
Unfortunately, I donā€™t have a QT/hospital tank so I currently have him in a smaller tank I use when cleaning. I have not cleaned the tank as often as I should. Itā€™s a 36 gallon tank, this time I did about a 70% water change. My parameters afterwards were 7.4 PH 0.5 Nitrite 5 Nitrate. Iā€™ve added a water conditioner and aquarium salt. Will be going to the store to fix the parameters tomorrow. I also have an angelfish and albino bristle nose pleco.
Sorry for the long post, I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Any chance of a video (about 1 minute) pf the fish swimming and sinking?

Upload a video to YouTube or similar video hosting site and post the link on here.

okay I got it šŸ˜Š
This is a video of him this morning. His swimming has improved, but still not great. He also has periods where he just rests on the bottom. Thatā€™s not always abnormal for him but it seems more like itā€™s difficult to swim up.

swim bladder problem, probably caused by old age. no cure. just lower the water level a bit and don't have too much water movement. if it gets too bad, then euthanise it.

Okay, thank you. Did you think anything looked wrong with his left fin?

The left pectoral (side) fin looks like it has a small bump on it, which could be a calcium growth in the fin or something else. I need better pictures to say for sure, but it didn't look like anything major and is unlikely to be contributing to the swimming problem.
