Gh And Kh

ok, i got a gh and kh test.

results:

gh: 80

kh: 60

along with my other results:

ph: 7.2
ammonia: 0ppm
nitrite: 0ppm
nitrate: 10ppm

so i know what the last 4 mean.

but what on earth in human terms can i work out from the gh and kh? i know i can use tables to work out the carbon dioxide (monoxide?) levels, but what the hell else?

i gather the gh measures alt dissoved in the water... what does that mean? whats a good salt level for my gouramis, danios and tetras?

supoib, was actually hoping i would get pointed to a good page - my aquarium manually book thing is about as useful as the water tests instruction book on explaining what the results actually mean.
