I've been searching for the type of coral i want to put in my tank and i've decided on a Colt COral. My LFS called and said he got in a new shipment and found a nice one that i'd like.

Ive done some research, but , i wanted to post here and get some practical advice.
(as opposed to book learned)

This will be my first coral, so anything you mention will be good for me.

He also said he has some nice ??COLINI, COLLINI, not sure on the spelling, LR.
Prime stuff he said. I searched for it, but possibly because of the spelling i cant find any info of the stuff. I guess its hard to come by.
Anyone know of this type???

thx- kim

colt coral
Common Name: Colt Coral
Scientific Name: Claudiella sp.
Lighting: Bright
Water Flow High
Ease of Care: Easy
Comments: Easy grower. Very rewarding for a newbie.
they are easy i had one and it grew big so i sold it and its still growing :D

Cant help with the Colini as i have never hear dof it sorry

The colt however is a good beginner coral. Hardy and grows fast. Be careful though, this coral pakc a real punch and can literally stin got death and other coral it touches. Make sure it is unable to touch other corals near it in the tank.

Colts have one of the most powerful stings in the soft coral word, they are really quite aggressive corals but of course, many shops dont impart this information. Do not worry though, they can be kept successfuly in a tank as long as you keep a close eye on them, They do not produce sweeper tenticles like some corals so they ar really only dangerous to the touch. I beleive they can also send chemical in the water to defend their territory but i do not think this is as harmful by any means.

As for feeding, i neverfed mine directly when i had one. I merely fed Cyclopeze and live phyto. this seemed to do the trick very nicely.

I can deal with that.

Hey Nav, read my thread in saltwater "Tank Changing...please read"

Should I add the coral, or wait. I can't tell if the change that is happening is the natural cource of the reef tank once upgraded to support soft coral.
Or is something is unstable..... obviously a change from crystal clear to this.... something is going on, i need to understand why.... your opinion would be appreciated
