I just added a pair of GBR to my 15 gallon. When they see eachother the smaller male goes after the female. They face eachother and do some light sparing it looks like. Lightly butt heads then swim away. They don't appear to be injuring eachother but I'm worried about stress. Do I need to move the male to my other aquarium? If so, the temperature is 79 degrees and I'm worried that's too cold. Or is this normal behaviour when getting adjusted to a new aquarium? What should I do?

That's normal but your tank is to small, they need enough space so they can have time away from each other, and set up their own territories

Ok I was told 15G was fine for the pair. I don't have any other fish. They have a rock cave and driftwood they like to hide in as well

Are they a bonded pair or just a male and a female? If they are not bonded, they are not guaranteed to get on together and could end up fighting.
Getting a second male is a recipe for disaster as the first male will regard the whole tank as his.

The pair is a male and a famale. Doesn't seem to be bonded but I did add them at the same time yesterday. Do you think I need to separate them? Sometimes they swim together, but usually briefly butt heads when they see eachother, then swim off. I have a 33 Gallon community tank I can put one in worst case scenario

Keep an eye on them for now. If one seems to be picking on the other, that's the time to separate them. You might be lucky and they'll bond with each other.

I ended up separating them and it's working out great for both fish
