Hi Guys, I got my first betta on Friday last week, he's wonderful - EXCEPT - he's fussy as all get out! I have fed him:Tetra Tropical FlakesKing British Tropical Mini PelletsFreeze Dried Blood WormTetra WafersHe won't touch any of it! All he will eat is frozen bloodworm which he LOVES!It gets more complicated because I have a community tank. So I feed my rasboras flake and my corys the wafers plus I added a few pellets for him which he doesn't eat. Because he's hungry he then guards the wafer from the cories even though he doesn't want it! I then put bloodworm in to give the cories a chance and the rasbora get overfed... *pulls hair out* Luckily he's only posturing when it comes to the cories and they don't seem upset by him (which I imagine drives him nuts) as they just keep pestering around until he moves from hovering over their wafer. I've just ordered him some Atison's Betta Food (as I haven't been able to find any locally) so that will arrive in a couple of days - fingers crossed!

I've never fed mine anything different to the rest of the fish - whether it be Sera granules, veg, bloodworm, whatever.

As an update I tried freeze dried tubifex worms tonight and he liked those. I don't really like using the freeze dried stuff though. I did soak it for about 15 mins before putting it in the tank so hopefully won't have any bloat issues.

This just reinforces my thought that the only reason he's guarding the corys' food is because he's hungry because he hasn't even looked at them tonight!

Bettas can be very fussy little things. Mine won't touch his freeze-dried bloodworms but seems to like his hikari betta bio gold and the flake/pellet food I feed the other fish. Atisons seems to be quite a popular food. You could try asking the store you bought him from what they fed him, perhaps he'd take better to that than what you've tried recently.

He ate some tropical pellets tonight!!! Woohoo! He has returned to torturing the corys though - bless them, they just completely ignore him!

Is he the one in your sig? Very nice fish!

Glad he's started eating. Was it the corys food that he ate or did you feed him the pellets seperately?

My females love the corys wafers, they often grab them & swim around with them, greedy girls!

Yeah that's him :) No he still doesn't eat the cory food but he had some king British mini pellets for tropicals. They did swell quite a bit after I soaked them so tomorrow I'm going to try and break them in half before adding to the tank so he doesn't have to work so hard at it

Cazgar, he doesn't eat them but he doesn't want the corys to have them either lol!

Well I seem to have got the routine down now guys. I soak the mini pellets and tetra wafer for a good 20 minutes until the pellets are properly squishy, then I add them to the tank with some flakes for the rasbora and everyone is happy!

Betta won't eat the flakes, the mini pellets are too big for the rasbora (though they do try!) so no worries for the betta, since they are nice and soft he munches them down no problem, since he's full he doesn't harass the corys and since their wafer is plenty soft they can eat it quickly even if the betta decides to start looming menacingly over their wafer lol.

Just thought I would update for those who are still struggling with feeding in their community tanks - keep at it and there's probably a workable solution!
