i know some people probably won't find this funny but i do. my roomate was shining a red laser pointer into my 46 gallon community the other day and it was more amusing to watch than a cat or dog chasing one. Every single fish (over a dozen) was chasing it endlessly and going crazy. sorry, thought that was funny

we do this too when we have it out for the cat. my one male molly will just chase it everywhere. and one of my male bettas i swear he'd kill that little red dot if he could...........

its funny, but also, as long as you don't do it too much, its stimulation for the fish, gets them active and swimming about more than normal.

Some veterinarians recommend against using laser pointers and flashlights to excite dogs. It can lead to a compulsive disorder also known as canine stereotypy. My friend's vet told him not to use a flashlight with his dog, and I think that was good advice, especially after I saw the dog's response to the light movement.

I doubt it would lead to similar problems with fish, but I just wanted to drop that bit of information in this thread. ;)

The laser system doesn't move.

I see how it could mentally affect animals/fish due to the movement, etc... using the pointers...

My dog ignores lights, and looks at the flash light instead then she walks away... My fish always chased my laser pointer, until the batteries ran out :) (they cost way to much, ten times as much as the laser pointer itself)

I used to own a completely neurotic Welsh Collie. A beautiful dog, but completely nuts. I saw him take a lump out of the plaster on the wall once because light reflected off my watch...

Is the same true for cats, bangin?

I had a cat that would chase laser pointers until it began to pant. If you've never seen a cat panting, your missing out on one of the funniset things I've ever seen!

I have at home a windchime on the back covered area and it one of those glass ones when the sun hits it it makes rainbow colours everywhere, well anyhow those rainbow colours were all over the concrete outside and my dog OSCAR (bearded collie) saw them (he was inside) and nearly put himself through the glass door would not have been pretty if the glass broke i may have ended up with 2 halves of a dog

he hates those or loves laser pointers also even after its out he still looks for it for over 30 min sometimes
