Ive a 30L tank set up, heater, sponge filter and bare bottom for sterbai cory fry. 20 - 30 fry went in a few weeks ago and im having deaths daily. :( Im sure its down to uneaten food on the bottom of the tank as the dead fry turn fungus/ fluffy very quickly as soon as they die. Im trying to hoover the tank daily but as the food being fed to them is micro size - im sure im missing alot and thats what causing deaths.

Q. Whats best to have in the fry tank as a bottom cleaner ?

Q. Do you think the fry's bodys going fluffy/ fungus quick is due to uneaten food on the bottom?

Any suggestions or advice welcome ;)
Tnx.

Sterbai fry are some of the harder cory fry to raise. They need clean water and minimal shocks. My bet is you are over feeding and undervacuuming. Ideally you should be changing about 10% of the water daily- vac out uneaten food regilarly after feeding. With very small fry moving some jave moss from an established tank will bring in infusoria which they will eat. Look into feeding cycop-eeze- frozen is best but FD will work as well. It took me a lot of tries to get sterbai fry over 30 days old. I would not put anything else into the grow out tank with them.
