USA,
latley every store I go to has black mollie fry. And we ask if we can take them, so they wont get eaten, and they wont sell them because theyre to small! It gets me mad because these little fish can grow nice and big one day, but they dont give them a chance!

I know what u mean. I had basicaly the same experience last week. Went into same store today, and guess what? Out of 11 fry they only had 5 left, But they still wouldn't sell them. Something about not being licenced to sell fry. :grr:

i saw a batch of molly fry in walmart, i asked the guy if i could buy them, and he siad yes, but the for price of an adult molly!

came back the other day and about half of it was gone :(

I went with my sister in law to the pet store the other day and they had several fry in a tank. Several were black mollies. She talked the guy into selling them to her. She got them for 10 cents each. It was neat. Last I heard they were all doing well. :)

its good that some places let you have the fry. Just wish mine did.

at my LFS if theres fry in the tank and you buy some of the adults they ask you if you want some babies and they give them to you for free
Agreed, even not with fry I've had many "free" additions in with my bagged fish. I've gotten nice snails, even pygmy cories for free. I guess if they scoop my fish and catch something else that's small, they'd rather just leave it in.

man my pet store guy is crazy i ask him for females and he gives me 5 males and 1 female then i ask him to give me 2 females and he gives me 3 males and a small molly fry for free lol and along with that i got abt 6 snails which turned into 10 snails hehe

at lfs that i go to seperates the fry as soon as theyre born and sells 10 for $2.00AUS

When I was at petsmart last night, I noticed one lonely fry in the swordtail tank. I didn't even THINK to ask about buying it. Poor thing. :-(

I went to a really nice aquarium store today. They have these huge tanks probably 8 foot long by 12 inches tall. It is where they keep all of their live plants to sell. Anyways they kept their fry in there. It was a perfect place for them and they looked really happy. Lots at different growth stages.

This place wasn't a chain store though and the people working there were experts at keeping fish...so I guess they care more that's why they separate the fry.

So some aquarium stores do care at least
