i saw a stunning 5-6 inch specimin for sale today and wanted to bring it home  the shop owner said it was his mates fish and was very calm in his tank but after looking them upo it seems it could be a bit of a gamble to add it to my now peacefull tank

has amyone kept one or know anyone who has?

Same family as jaguar and dovii , i had a loselli (spelling?) which is similar to friedrichstralli and it was only small but tried ruling my tank at the time.

yeah ive read they can be a bit fiesty thats why i left it in the shop. its was a great looking fish though...... it didnt seem to bother the others in the tank it shared but then again with cichlids nothing is set in stone

just looked them up and it may have even been one of those you had. they look identical

You can tell that straight out. If i hadnt of read that post i would have said straight out they are the two fish it most looks like.

Certainly a fish to add to my "future stocking" list of dreams for once upon a time ;) Thanks for bringing that to my attention matt!

You know its a risk to disturb the harmony you currently have in your tank. The addition of one fish could totally throw the pecking order out of the window. I think its too much of a risk, especially seeing as you just got rid of the pike
