My LFS is currently selling fresh water shrimps. Having never seen these for sale before I was curious about how they would fare in a community setup.

Is there anything that I should know before I purchase them, i.e. do they need special food, would they be a threat to the fish that I have.

I have a couple of small angels, 6 zebra danio's, 2 3 spot gouramis, a beta, 2 bristle nosed plecs and a red finned shark.

Any help that anybody can give me would be much appreciated.

Oh these shrimp are between 2 and 3 inches long, if that helps.

I'm not sure but I think that your angels would eat them. they will be fine with the danios :D

As long as the other fish are small and not aggresive it will be OK to have shrimps. I have had Amano shrimp with Tetras, mollys, guppies, platies, dwarf gouramis, SAEs, CAEs & small angels without any problem.

Take a look at this Shrimps for more info on them.

Thanks for the info guys, very much appreciated. looks like I will be getting a couple of shrimps
