Does anyone have a detailed list with pictures and behavioral traits of all the small fish and invetebra that occur in the Freestate (South Africa) particularly in the vreede aria, i'm trying to come up with a list of all the plant and animal species that occur on our farm, im having a difficult time with the fish as they are incredibly difficult to catch. There are 2 rivers on the farm and both have there water souses on the neighboring farms. so as you can imagine the water is extremely clean as there are no crops, and very little livestock, bar a few horses and the naturally occurring game.

i wish it was that simple, they dont even know to read properly, let alone look after records. keep in mind that this is in Africa.

Below are a few links I found by googling native fishes of Free State South Africa.
If there is a university there, they might have books or documents on native flora and fauna.

I use bait traps in Australia. They are great for catching small fish in slow moving waterways. You might be able to get some from Ebay. Look for dark brown or dark green coloured bait traps. Avoid light coloured traps in freshwater, they don't work.
The link below has a dark brown collapsible bait trap on ebay. Dark brown is the best colour for freshwater.
