Well Catfish Crazy you were right. sadly i woke up this morning and freddy kruger my Tiger shovelnose Cat had eaten one of my rarest Malawis. So i took him back to were i bought him and got me money back.

So to anyone even remotely thinking of having one of these wonderful fish... make sure you have a spare 8' tanks + to house him on his own!!!!

Sorry to hear about your fish matt, those tigers really are awesome predators :grr: ,imagine what would happen if he could see  .
Even my S.lima will take out reasonable sized fish (mine was taking 3" congo tetras when he was 7" long) and he'll max out at 12 to 18",a full grown 4 foot tiger could take a fish of 2 1/2 foot, not many tank mates you can get theat are that big.

Shame you had to take him back as they are a stunning fish but like you say they need a large tank all to themselves.

Hi Malawi_Matt

Sorry to hear about the loss of you Malawi.

As CFC said, the shovelnose is a stunning fish, but they needs huge tank mates.
