Fluval U3 filter issues

Hi guys, new here so bare with.
I've recently had issues with my Fluval U3 filter.
The motor doesn't sound like it is kicking in properly like it did when i first bought the filter and it creating a lot of excess bubbles from the top airflow pipe.
It is very noisy and almost intermittent when working...
I didn't know if any of you have had or known an issue similar or the same or any ideas or suggestions on fixing it?

It could be air caught in the impeller well. Try tilting it while it's running - be careful not to point it out of the tank or you'll get a shower.
It could also be muck in the impeller well - have you cleaned it recently?
