Hello there!

I was browsing around at LED lights at the local electronics super store and came across these:

They are the same size and same 12v that my fluval edge uses. I figured this would be a great idea for the tank because LED's are going to run much cooler and limit the temperature increase I get from the stock halogen lights. Plus they're better for the enviorment

My question is, will these work okay with plants? The plants seem to be doing really well with the lights I have in there now and don't want to compromise that but if I can get a brighter more temperature efficient lighting system I would be thrilled!

Thanks in advance!

Found the specs on the light if that helps at all.

· Voltage: 12V

· 100% Brand New. MR 16 Light Bulb

· Consumes 2W Power Only.

· GU5.3 standard Pin base

· Waterproof and Vibration Resistant

· Color Temperature: White(5000K)

· View of Angle: 40 degree

· Light Output: Around 20-22W halogen bulb

Technically LED's run much hotter than you think...the difference is *where* they produce heat.

I'd highly recommend reading all of this thread from the ukaps.org forum, which tracks a guys progress building a DIY LED luminare. Has lots of great technical information about using LED's for aquarium lighting.
