Hi all
Looking to change existing internal filter in my 350 juwel and was looking at a fluval 407 .. Little confused though .Specs state it's good for up to 500 litres or 100 us gallons ....but 100 gallons is only about 380 litres so does anyone know which it is ?.. Thanks in advance .. Apologies if I'm being a bit dense

Us gallon is around 3.8l an imperial gallon is around 4.5 , maybe just a mix up in gallonage

I'm running a Fluval 307 on my 55 gallon and it's rated up to 70 gallon. There are three stats that might be confusing in that there is a pump performance rating, filter circulation rating and an aquarium capacity rating. For the 407 it's as follows:

Pump performance: 383 US Gal/h (1450 L/h)
Filter circulation: 245 US Gal/h (930 L/h)
Aquarium capacity: 50-100 US Gal (150-500 L)

This note is on the same page:

*Aquarium recommendations are based on North American (US Gal) or European (L) standard aquarium usage

You can see all of the details for all 7 series filters on this page.

Hi that's where I get confused 100 us gallons doesn't equal 500 European litres though

It's like that for all of the series 7 though it seems:

107 - says 10-30 gal or 40-130 liters. However 30 gallons is 114 liters.
207 - says 20-45 gal or 60-220 liters. However 45 gallons is 170 liters.
307 - says 40-70 gal or 90-330 liters. However 70 gallons is 264 liters.
407 - say 50-100 gal or 150-500 liters. However 100 gal is 379 liters.

The conversion rate isn't even consistent. Personally I'd use the gallons and convert to liters on my own. Just my opinion :)

Fluval is a German company to my knowledge , it’s possible they use imperial gallon, as I’m English and only ever use us gallons when talking fish to me a gallon isn’t a thing unless I’m taking fish

Yeah thats what I got it to .... Thanks will look at other options as wanted something bit bigger 😁as was thinking if it's roughly 380 litres it's almost at capacity ...... Go big or go home !!😜😜

My buddy runs a Fluval FX4 which is rated up to 250 Gal and they also make an FX6 which is rated up to 400 Gal. That thing is a beast and he's been running it for four years without a breakdown.

Just check you can get the hose and the mounting brackets through the small semi-circular gaps at the back of the Juwel.

All of the Fluvals use special corrugated hose and the FX series using these big, chunky rim connectors. Not sure they'd go through the small cut outs so you might need to cut a hole in the lid to get them through.
