Severeal of my Mbuna have been flashing over the last couple of days - I can see no signs of any disease or injuries, all feeding well - water reading for ammonia and nitrite zero, nitrate 20, pH 7.9.

Are there reasons why these fish do this other than a potential problem?

Thanks

Rita

Mine were doing this aswell!!

I told my LFS and the bloke said that it may be some microscopic worm/bacteria thing that attaches to the fish and spirals round and slowly digs a hole into the fish (microscopic)

Anyway, he told me to treat it with anti-whitespot and it worked!!

I used eSHA EXIT

for some reason (and i dont know why) mbuna always seem to do this from time to time.. never any sign of disease and i have never treated with anything..pretty normal behaviour :/ its a strange one.

thats not to say its always the case though..

Pretty typical Mbuna behaviour, when i see it, i always double check there is no sign of disease/infection but there never has been to date. The little guys (and not so little) like to keep me busy

Some flashing is normal, though nobody has really figured out why they do it, there are just theories. Excessive flashing could be a sign of a problem.
