Fish Spitting Out Food

Just a quick question!: What does it mean when a fish spits out it's food? He doesn't like it?

yeah he probably just tasting it and he might not like it. My molly does that all the time.

Hey lilhurleybunny!

Well, if you look at them often, you will notice that they will try to eat another fishes poop. Then they spit it out. So really, its just normal behavior.

my little fish will do that with blood worms, several times befor eating it.

I think they try and make it smaller or something.

Most fish will do this. Its simply to taste it before they decide to chew

my oscar does it all the time too, but it prob because I feed him cat crunchies lol. He's a terriable lump! But they do it all the time which give me great entertainment when I see the nippy wee sods come sneaking up and steal the pre-chewed food! Haha, wouldnt we all if we could?

My Australian Rainbows do it CONSTANTLY....but they are actually spitting it out because they don't like it Crazy Loons.......but they do LOVE shrimp pellets and wouldn't DARE spit them out!!!!
