Merry Christmas guys,
I'm upgrading my take size and could use your expertise. I've recently acquired more space in my room and am going to upgrade from an AquaOne 510 (75L/20US G) tank to an AquaOne 850 (165L/44US G) tank.
The dimensions of the 850 tank are as follows: 840mm W, 580mm H and 440mm D. I want to recreate an Amazon River Basin biotope, so if any of my fish selections stand out as not being from that area please let me know. However, most importantly please comment on my stocking selection, quantity and any possible issues.
Planned stocking selection:
1 Angelfish
2 Bolivian Rams
13 Black Skirt/Widow Tetra's
The idea was to choose three different kinds of species that occupy different levels of the tank. i.e. Angelfish predominately at the top, a school of tetra's in the middle and bolivian rams at the bottom. My selection may not quite work out like that as it appears that Black Skirt's tend to like the lower portions of tanks... but they're also less likely to be eaten by the Angel due to their larger size. It's a small sacrifice that I'm willing to make, but if you have any other suggestions in terms of an alternative tetra school, I am all ears.
As you can tell I am pretty excited about this tank! I've had the 510 for over a year now and it has been a lot of fun/a great learning experience... but I feel far too constrained with fish selection. I'm ready for bigger and better things.
Cheers guys,
Don
