If they are flicking against stones etc. this could be the first sign of ick (whitespot) go get yourself an anti whitespot med...

i'd second that.. last time one of my fish did that, he died within 2 days... (whilst in a hospital tank being treated) :(

Get some treatment going ;)

I am currently treating my tank for ich. The first signs were the fish flicking sideways and against plants and ornaments etc. Shortly after the telltale white dots began appearing on the first.

Keep your eyes peeled for any white dots and your fish and have you treatment ready.

When fish are "flashing", it's usually a sign of something wrong with the water quality. Do you own a test kit, and can you tell us the readings for PH, nitrites, ammonia, nitrates. It's not a good thing to medicate any aquarium unless you're absoultely certain what pathogens you're dealing with. You'll stress your fish even worse than they are, can kill off all the beneficial bacteria, and just plain make things worse. Start off by doing a 20% water change, and testing your water.
