Hey all,

I am wondering about puffer fish for a while. It's something I would like to get, but with the fish I have I don't know how compatible they are with mollies, platies etc.

I know they like saltier water, but I thought there were some who could live in freshwater?

Are they a schooling fish, how many should be together?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All freshwater puffers are predators and will gradually prey on the other inhabitants of a quiet community tank.

I agree that they are really cool fish and it is a shame that they cannot keep with other smallish species. :/

wev got one downstairs in a community tank and hes fine, been in there for 2months and all he has done is nipped a danios fin! but they nipped him first :D

How many gallons is the tank and are there any particular species of puffers you are interested in? There are quite a few species of puffers, here are the most commonly available ones(freshwater and brackish species);

There aern't any freshwater species of puffers though i can think of that would tolerate or not try to attack mollies and platies though.
