wow, that seems pretty cheap. what is the minimum wage in the uk? you get payed more than the people in the us right?
Remember that you can't compare UK to US. But also remember that £1 = $1.75

Gill, what on earth is "Bejeweled Shrimp" I'm curious to know.

(ps: The main rate for workers aged 22 and over is currently set at £5.05 an hour. On 1 October 2006 this will increase to £5.35) - please remember is is UK Pounds !

hrmm, still cheaper than here. dps cost 1.99 around here. not sure about the other stuff though because ive never seen them. i think min wage around here is $6.75, but i think they raising it to 8.50 or something like that. you guys still make more than us

but you get stuff so much cheaper!!

maybe not fish but petrol and insurance to name a few!!

its atleast £1000 for a first time driver to be insured here.

less than £100 over there isnt it?

ha ha don't i know it!!! off topic I know but I just got my renewal through with 2 yrs NCR and a completely clean licence in a 1.2 micra, still nearly £70 a month  robbing b@stards!!!!!

when i was in america in february, you were:

$1.99 per GALLON for premium unleaded petrol.

That means, to fill my petrol tank it would cost:

$26 or roughly £15.

It ACTUALLY costs me £46 or roughly $80 - nearly 4 times the price. can you imagine paying nearly $10 a GALLON?

granted our minimum wage is higher than that of in America, but the costs are more that twice that you pay here.

My cousins came over to blighty about a month ago as well, so it:

1) lost them money in the conversion to UK £
2) cost them more to buy anything.

so it was like they were paying twice.

anyway, enough on the rant of the costs in this tiny little island.

Where in the world were you to have gas at $1.99? It's up to over $3.00 now... aparently not as high as over the pond, but high for us.

i feel really sorry for you:

I have a driving conviction (dangerous driving, im NOT proud of it) was banned for a year and made a claim on my insurance totaling over £6000 and I am £80 a month for my insurance now. before I was convicted, I was down to £36 a month though and thats under 25 with 1 years NCB in a 1.4 16V Rover 25.

Get the nice 25 discount this year though, which should help me a bit and the conviction clears from my license in 2008 :)

Sorry, this is totally off topic and hi-jacked

and i really should stop posting twice for "oh and another thing..." bugger sound like me mum now

that was in Denton, Texas.

The week before, we had been in Tampa, FL and it was $2.49 but when they peops from there came over in march, they had said it had dropped there too.

i read with great interest an article in a mag in america titled "why $5 a gallon in the USA would be good"

might make me cousin with his hummer pick something a little better. still, i loved that truck.

EDIT: oh and also in ohklahoma (SP??)

i worked it all out in US gallons, ie my petrol tank is a 50L ~ 13 US gallons and based the prices on that.
