Hello,

Just been searching for my Bronze Cory Couldn't find anywhere last option the filter. There it was on top of the white filter pad. It dosen't seem possible as the lid was on and there is no other way in. Its a Juewl filtration system all enclosed inside the tank. Has anyone else had this problem? Most important any Ideas how it got in so as it dosen't happen again.

Poor chap Was in there I reckon for max 8 hrs He is breathing kinda heavy what will the chances for survival be?

Thanks again.

Cover the hole up with some filter sponge, turn tank light outs so he settle down, increase aeration for him, and check water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, as cory don't go in filters usually, bottom dwellers mostly.

I have a Juwel tank and my cories spend all day swimming into the current from the filter and sometimes do little jumps out of the water as they are going, you hear little splashes now and again. Maybe yours was doing something similar but jumped too high.
My water stats are fine and I have had them over 4 months they just seem to like to play. I did add 3 bronze cories yesterday and saw one swim up the outflow pipe of the filter, you could just see his little tail sticking out the end. He came out quite quickly and hasn't tried it again so far.

It's a common problem with Juwel internal filters. If the top cover is not absolutely secure, the fish can get in there. Or small fry even swim through the outlet pipe into the canister.

Talking of which i had fry in my filter, unfortunatly 3 dead, 2 alive.. but my ADF had eaten all the other fry (was on the bottom of the sand) (about 5).
And when i did my water change earlier, i had one of my shrims in there, took me about 20 mins to get it out. As the net i had was too big, and it kept hiding down the bits for the heater :(! Got him out eventually though.

Thanks for the help. I will try to secure the filter.

Dani,

That was my next question My three corys also spend most of the day in the airflow of the water they seem to be having great fun. I thought Corys would spend most of there day on the bottom looking for food.

Is this common for corys to be in mid water alot of the time?

My cories only go to the bottom when feeding or having a rest after a few hours of swimming into the airflow of the filter, mine seem to enjoy it and it is very funny to watch. They are alot more fun to watch then they are in the shops where they all just sit on the bottom.
Now I have a larger group they have gone totally mental and you never see them stop, but they are healthy and seem very happy so I am not worried.
How is the cory? I hope he made a full recovery and learned a lesson about jumping in filters.
