I have a 50 gallon tank and i want ideas for fish please help !!! Im open to any ideas

thanks

ps the tank is 3 foot long and 3 foot tall

its a aquaone 900 if that helps

I agree with angels since it's a tall tank.  Maybe some Cories on the bottom, and some Tetras.

What do YOU have in mind?? :)

I'm a newbie so anyone is welcome to disagree but either a Plec or a Gourami would be a nice addition.

What sort of things do you like?
Do you want to do a Biotope?
Species only?
Courful fish or dull fish?
Any theme you're thinking of?

The best way IMO is going to your LFS and writing down the names of all the fish you like from there and then coming home and researching them :)

I really like colourfull fish, i do want discuss but need to do more research first. I have rocks and fake plants at the moment. I like larger fish to be honest, i just want really nice fish that arent to hard to take care of. Im new to fish keeping but have read alot !! So my knoweledge is growing, im willing to put the world in to have a great tank

i meant work not world lol

Do you know what your pH is?

You could have a school of Tetras, a school of Corys or Kuhli Loaches, and a centre piece fish.

For the Tetras, how about Rummynoses?
For the Corys, how about Sterbais or Julii? Or the Kuhli Loaches.
Centre piece fish, how about a Dwarf Gourami or another type of Gourami?

Since the tank is quite tall you can get a lot of difference in movement, I know they don't look like much but they add a nice movement to the surface and that's Hatchetfish. They shoal in nice groups, but mostly stay near the surface. Angelfish will float around pretty much everywhere, but they prefer midwater. Just make sure the Hachetfish you buy are big enough to deal with them. On the bottom Corys, definitely, you will not regret them, they add a lot of energy to the bottom of the tank. Also a pelagic, more full-bodied tetra species like Moenkhausia, or Gymnocorymbus (less so) species, would add a bit of movement to the center. Finally a little bit of a showy fish down the bottom since Corys don't tend to be the most colourful would be BR's, GBR's, Apistos, or even something a bit rarer, if you didn't mind about biotoping, like Badis Badis, although they aren't the most colourful, just interesting.

Just watch Hatchets, they jump!

Tek oot.
