Hi my guppy has been flashing for the past few days, but only 4 or 5 times during a day. I've checked the stats: 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate.

None of the other fish (1 dwarf gourami, 5 otos or 7 harlequin rasbora) are showing this behaviour. The tank is 70l and I think the stocking is ok.

I'm wondering what could be causing this as there is no sign of ich?

Cheers for any advice,

Axy!

my fish do it now and again too, its normal...some fish just get itchy...keep an eye on the flashing fish though, could be the start of something, maybe have a waterchange just incase something has got into the tank, like sprays freshner plug ins..etc

Flashing is not just a sign of ich, it just shows the fish is generally irritated for some reason. Have you added anything new to the tank recently? Is the water completely clear of debris?

I agree with MrsM fish do flick and rub now and then.
Also fine particles in the water can cause it. So maybe add some new filter floss to your filter.

If any changes don't hesitate to post back on your thread.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm guessing its diatoms that are getting kicked up by the fish swimming near the plants. Been doing 60% water changes a week trying to get of rid them already

Cheers,

Axy!
