Hi
I am away for 3 weeks on holiday and i am going to get an automatic fish feeder.

Are they reliable and does anyone recommend any

I use it, fish can stave for about 3 weeks, but i would prefer for my fish to not stave Lol.

I haven't used one personally but if I were you I would buy it now , set it as though you were away and see how reliable it is before you go!

dont use flake, as it seems to stick together then stops feeding. it happened while i was away. luckily all the fish were fine on my return.

just get someone to pop in after you've been away for a week an half an pop some food in :good:

I have the Eheim battery operated one and it is great. But yes, buy as soon as possible because it takes a while to set up and get the food amount correct.

I would suggest buying it at least 3 or 4 weeks ahead of your vacation. Set it up and let it run so you can adjust how much it dispenses and make sure it is working properly. When you do leave, only set it to feed about 1/4 to 1/2 of what you normally feed. That way if something does go wrong, hopefully, it will be minimal.

As already stated though, they can make it 3 weeks without food.
