I oppened the tank hood too sort out my filter about 5 mins ago when i heard a distinct plop sound. I checked around my desk and saw nothing so i assumed nothing had happened!

I then checked the floor and saw one of my white clouds slapped on the floor! Panicking i got my net and tried too put it up, this didnt work! i frantically looked around the room looking for somthing too scoop it up with! i was convinced it was dead but i carried on looking anyway! I found a sheet of paper, couldnt think of anything else! Slid it under the small fish and picked it up! It didnt move :-( but then suddenly it did a small "jump of light" I quickly dropped it into the water. And it swam! I hope hes ok though, i cant tell which one it is as its blended with the rest!

Has this ever happened too you? Did it survive?

The fish jumped at least an inch and fell about 2 meters!!! Very scary! lol :X

i lost a guppy in the same way.

she jumped out of a bowl i had her floating in that was 95% covered. damn 5%.

i didnt notice intime tho and she went down the back of my 80 gallon which i unwisely didnt leave any space to get behind anyway.

good job saving your fish tho!!!! :good:

i found one of my mums goldfish on the floor one morning about a week ago. it wasnt moving and looked dead and was covered in fluff. i thought "ho hum, poor little guy" pick him up by the tail and he just looked and me and im sure said "what are you looking at?". i put him back in and right away he swam off as if nothing happened.

i cleaned him up and hes been fine since.

once i opened the hood to feed and my dragon goby leaped out past my shoulder  he was fine once i got him back in :good: hope your fish is ok

ive just rehomed a cae,
we traped the thing after many hrs in a bottle trap,we took trap out of tank, was just tipping it in to a jug when he flew out past my head landed on carpet, and was looking up at me. hes ok now living in my aunties tank.donna. :)

phew, nothing too severe then! Thanks for all your stories people. My WCMM fell on the laminated flooring which is lucky as it kept him moist :)

must be weird for them to be out in the real world!

my mates fish jumped out of the tank and onto the floor when she was cleaning the tank one day... bareing in mind that the fish tank had been on the top of the fridge, so it was a very large drop to the floor. ANyway my mate thought the fish was dead as it wasnt moving so she picked him up from the floor and put him in the rubbish bin... a good 5 - 10 minutes later, her boyfriend heard some nosies coming from the bin and when he looked inside, the fish was flapping around, still alive!! :hyper: we could not believe it... how had he survided in the bin for so long?!?

so anyway, he scopped him out, put him back in the bowl and he was fine after a while and is still alive today.. and this all happened a year ago!

goodluck with your fishy, hope he is ok

this happened to me with one of my fighters. he attempted the leap of death and fell to the ground from his bowl about 2 metres from the ground. so i picked him up and placed him back in and he was fine after wards.
is it ok to use ur hands??

Hi,

My daughter was counting my female bettas and announce there were only 3 (should have been 4). I went to check and one had gone. i hunted everywhere for it and eventually found it behind the tank. At the back of the tank are small cut outs for the wires ect and somehow she had got through these!! My hubby picked her up, with his hands, thinking she was dead but she started flipping about so put her back in the tank.

Poor little thing she was covered with dog hairs and fluff and looker really sorry for herself. She didn't eat for a while but I am glad to say that she is now back to her glorious self.

Good luck with escapee.
