Hey all,

So I'm doing my first aquascaping next week, took the week off work! I'm going for black sand, driftwood, moss, and plants. But I'm struggling on what sort of rocks to go for.
Can anyone advice me I've been looking at these two below.

Knife stone looks like slate and slate is safe. Don't know about the grey stuff.

Put a bit of vinegar on the rocks and see if they fizz or bubble. If they do fizz/ bubble, they are calcium based and will raise the pH. If they don't fizz they won't affect the pH.

If the rocks are clean and free of chemicals, they are usually fine for aquariums. Make sure they don't have sharp edges.
