=D hiii! i have a community set up (1 Betta, 1 Silver-Tipped, 2 Black Neons, 3 Neons, 4 Kuhliis, 1 African Dwarf Frog, 2 Mickey Mouse Platties, 1 Unknown Platy) the platties are my newbs, and the last fist to be added to the tank. the Tetras will probably be removed soon.

nooow... i have a question. how many fry can a platy drop? i specifically fished out a male MM, a female MM and the last because she was pregnant (very light yellow, but i can see a pink gravid spot) i have many uses for the lil buggers; live food, stocking the tank, reselling/exchanging to the pet store.

xD

I think the pink gravid spot means it's not pregnent. My white platy has a pink gravid spot wwith a few black dots in it, and it been that way since july.

I think a platy drop 20-30 fry, but you only find half of them (the other half are snacks). Though I wouldn't know, my platys haven't droped yet.

:hyper: As much as 100 fries in an adult, But it totally differs from one fish to another, some are prolific breeders, some are not!

It takes awhile to figure out when livebearers are going to drop. I still haven't figured out my guppy's cycle of pregnancy yet. In my guppies I can always see a gravid spot but it gets darker as the pregnancy goes along and slightly before she gives birth she is kind of box-like and amazingly fat.

Platies can give birth to up to a hundred fry at a time. Many of these will be eaten by the fish though. Especially if they give birth in a community tank. The best way to ensure that some fry survive is to put her in a separate heavily planted tank so the fry have enough places to hide.
