this tank was a nightmare for me to get going but finally switched to lower light plants, ditched some of the driftwood... and its just perfect. (Except my husband complaining that I bought more plants "you dont need more!"--he says)

55 gallon hodgepodge community (Had combined 2 20 gallon stock into this so its a mess of fish, but that's fine we love the mix)

I always find that black backgrounds just work, they just do!

When first started I used those fake background posters of plants and rocks or whatever and it just did not work for me.

Until someone on this forum suggested painting the back glass with water soluble cheap acrylic paint with a small roller, that was it, I then always painted the back of tanks with paint but I am now tempted to try the dark black tints that can be added to the glass and can take that tint off when taking tanks down for whatever reasons, easier than taking/washing off the paint perhaps.

But anyway, well done on that tank, looking good now :)
