Hi Everyone

Can anyone please help me help my male betta?

Tank size: 190 litres
pH:8.2
ammonia:0
nitrite:0
nitrate:15
kH:
gH:
tank temp:27c

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Still eating but seems to be not swimming much and fins looking thin and frayed at the ends.

Volume and Frequency of water changes:15 % weekly

Tank inhabitants:8 harlequin Rasbora. 1 male Betta

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):4 harlequins 10 days ago. Betta added 2 weeks ago.

Exposure to chemicals:No.

This is quite a new tank. It was set up 4 weeks ago using gravel and filter from a newly cycled tank. The old filter has gone now but keeping a close eye on water parameters.

Hi, I am slightly confused with that quote, is the tank cycled? does the new filter have the old filters media in it?

Fin rot is usually caused by poor water quality or from other fish nipping the fins, bettas often have issues with fin rot due to their shape, and can be very difficult to cure permanently.

I would recommend upping your water change from 15% to maybe 30-40% weekly, and dosing with waterlife myxazin or eSHa 2000 to treat the rot.

If the meds fail to work you could try salt baths.
